Welcome Our New Community Management Intern: Keely Kennedy

The next time you visit the office, be sure to give a warm welcome to our new fall intern, Keely Kennedy! Born and raised in Mississippi, Keely brings a whole lot of Southern sweetness to the Social Distillery fam. We sat down with Keely to find out what brought her to the great state of TX. Read on to learn more!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in the great state of Mississippi. Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, then moved to Oxford for the best four years of my life at Ole Miss. Somehow I ended up in Texas, but Mississippi will forever have my heart.

What did you study in school?

At Ole Miss, I studied Integrated Marketing Communications and Business Administration. I loved the program at Ole Miss, but wanted to get a little more specific with my degree, so I hopped on over to UT to get my Master of Arts in Advertising.

What did you do prior to joining Social Distillery?

I’ve had a lot of different jobs throughout my years in college, but most recently, I worked at JH Ranch in Etna, California. There, I was a part of the programs crew, so I got to work the ropes courses, lake, and other activities on ranch property. I got the opportunity to challenge guests in their faith as well as help them discover their life purpose, overcome fears, and problem solve. I made friends, memories, and a Chaco tan that will last a lifetime.

What are some of your favorite brands to follow online?

Wendy’s social media is the greatest of all time. I love seeing what they do and how they respond. Also, huge fan of REI. I follow them on all platforms and they always have the best photos that immediately instill in me the need to go on a hike.

What’s your favorite thing about living in Austin?

Two words: breakfast tacos. I have never in my life been exposed to the type of greatness that this city serves. Combining my favorite meal of the day AND my favorite food. What’s not to love?

What’s your favorite social media platform?

If you had asked me this a month ago, I probably would’ve said Instagram. But now, I would have to say Twitter. I don’t know what happens, but it’s like I wake up every few months or so and decide to check it and then I’m hooked. I get my daily dose of news, humor, and sports updates. Also, the memes.

What would does a “perfect” day look like for you?

Honestly, any day in October is a perfect day to me. It’s my favorite month for a lot of reasons. First of all, Halloween, but then there’s also amazing weather and football season (let’s go Rebs). So a perfect day would be any day in October, preferably at the beach, watching Hocus Pocus and eating twice my weight in Peanut M&Ms.

Great news, Keely. You’re in good company — Social Distillery is known to devour our fair share of breakfast tacos. Welcome aboard!
